The John UPHAM you refer to was my great, great grandfather. He was born 11/28/1819 presumable in Warrick Co. IN. He married Mary "Polly" MITCHELL in Warrick Co. IN on 4/13/1845. He was granted a land patent for 80 acres in Warrick Co in 1840. John and Mary had one child while still living in IN, my great grandfathed William Frederick UPHAM who was born 4/18/1848. Six more children were born in TX.
This John UPHAM's father was also named John UPHAM. I haven't been able to deterimine his birthdate or place as yet. However he was among the first settlers of Boonville IN, and built the first Jail in Boonville. He married Temperence Dickerson 2/9/1819 at Sprinklesburgh, Warrick Co. IN. Shortly after their son John was born he died in 12/1819.
Tempy DICKERSON's father was Charles DICKERSON, born in Henry Co, VA 1764, and her mother was Susan MARLOW or MARLOWE born VA in 1774. Charles and Susan DICKERSON migrated to Henry CO. KY in 1812 by pack horse, stayed two years, then moved on to Warrick Co. IN
Please let me know if you find out any further info.
