Marcovich/Markovich/Markovitch/Marks
Hello.
I am looking for members of this family. In the 1860's Bernard "Ben" Marcovich settled in Galveston, Texas. His papers say he was from Austria. Later it became Lasva, Yugoslavia, near
Dubrovnik. He and two brother came to America, andother followed later, then went back. The two brothers that stayed were: Vido, and Matthew. I have a photo of them. Matthew was
killed in The Storm of 1900, along with his wife and 3 chidren.. I also have photos of who, I think are the Marcovich girls in communion dress, about five of them. I have of photo of their
mother. The were Catholics.
Ben's first wife was Anne LaCase, from Paris, France. She died between 1900 and 1906. Ben's second wife is Alice McCormick, from Krum, Texas. Their children are: Irene, Jennie, and
Louise, "Bea". There was also Angelina, and twin girls that died young. Ben and Anne had a daughter, Lillian who never married. Alice was married to a Mr. Gray previously, and had a son
Cliff.
The varied spellings are all in our family. Originally is was Marcovic (2 dots over last c), I believe it is. I descend from Irene. The family lived in Sour Lake, TX, then Galveston, then moved
to Houston, TX.
