Montague Co., Tx. abt. 1890 thru 1917
What I know:
Hiram L. May & Louisa Tobb Camp May was raising a family near Boneta. Their daughter Hannah married Joseph H. Gregg on Sept. 25, 1899, Montague Co., Tx.. I also know they had a son (Homer Joe)delivered by Dr. H. F. Herndon of St. Jo on Sept. 20, 1903 near Bonita. I know they eventually moved to Love, Jefferson & Carter counties in southern Oklahoma. Joseph has been known to have several aliases (Joe, Joe H., J.H., Joseph Harmon, Joseph Herman, Jos.W.H. and a variation of the last name Gregg, Greggs, Grigg, Griggs)
What I believe:
Jos.W.H. Gregg & Hannah May Gregg should have had other children in Montague Co.. These are their childrens names: Florence Lillie 1896, Harmon Luther 1899, Homer Joe 1903, Claud L. 1905, Lue Ella 1910, Bob Carson 1911, Will B. 1913, Melvin Roscoe 1915, Vishia Lea 1917. It is believed that Joseph Gregg came from around Ft.Smith or DeQueen, Arkansas. It is believed that he had 2 brothers (possibly John and Roy), 1 died when a tree fell on him (date & location not known) and 1 was supposed to be a doctor (possibly in Oklahoma or Arkansas). Joseph's mother and father was supposed to have run a general store and cotton gin in Arkansas. We do know that Joseph change the birth dates of some of his sons to keep them from going to war. When most of the kids got their SS cards, they had to use shool records for birth dates. I did find Homer Joe's birth record on Montague Counties 1903-1904 birth records.
