Thanks Joan, I've tried most of your suggestions and come up empty.G.F. and at least 2 of his sons would have been of age to serve in the CW.I have nothing on Mary C. Conway Mayfield in TX, nothing on 5 of the children ... anywhere, a marriage in 1866 for an A.B. Mayfield, b. 1846, m. a Tamsey WHATLEY, but I find no info on them ... not even a state to start in!I find nothing in the Civil War records that would indentify any of this line except a possible A.B., nothing in any census records, nothing in Tax records, and no pension records!I have searched TX, OK, NE, NM, CA, and LA and OR so far!
Back to the F.F. of the Wagon Train days in 1865.It occured to me that it could have been G.F.It also occured to me that there was a "Frank" Mayfield in the Monroe Co, MS area and we have not indentified him.Just recently, I have learned there is a Frank Mayfield buried in the same Cemetery as G.F.'s parents, siblings, extended families, etc. in Amory, MS.
I have a pretty good list of Mayfield marriages in TX, but no Mary other than where she married G.F. in 1862.
It was a long shot, Joan. Thanks for the reply.
