Joseph Simpkins received a land grant in Alba, Wood County, Texas in or about 1843. This was then a part of Smith County, I believe because Wood County came into being in 1850. He is buried in Simpkins Cemetary in Alba region. The land grant (or a part of it) is still in the family.
