Oh, yes, I know those counties. A branch of my Standefers were in McLennan Co, my Rices lived in Hamilton Co, but owned land in Coryell Co, and my husband is 3rd generation b in Grayson Co, TX. I have a couple of books on Grayson Co, and checked for your surnames. I notice in "An Illustrated History of Grayson County, Texas" a J.W. Davenport b KY c 1830 -- m Mary A. b MO c 1834 -- ch: Isaac L. b TX c 1855, Charles W. b TX c 1858 -- teamster - 1860 census. These very brief entries mostly pertained to people in Grayson Co, TX by 1860.
Something doesn't sound right on the marriage date of Lula's parents and her birthdate. Have you tried Green Co, KY GenWeb site, some GenWeb counties are putting their cemeteries online and some are putting other records online, too. If the marriages are not online, post a query ask if anyone knows if a collection of marriage records or a publication of marriage records has been done. Maybe someone would check for you, some sites have volunteers who will do a lookup (not research). Sometimes you luck out and someone may have their own copy of the works. I lucked out in Logan Co, AR GenWeb site, when someone had book on cemeteries - with my people in there.
My husband had one damn yankee, and his discharge papers showed where he was born. Even gave a physical description of him. Much more then my Johnny Rebs. Did Elzy apply for a pension?
Since Lula married in TX, am assuming her parents made it to TX, too. Do you know when and where they died?
