My great grandfather // Bryan, as I am told, resided around the El Paso area prior to 1865. Word has it he married (?) a 100% Apache, whom he won in a card game, stole her from another man or from her family. There was reportedly a shooting and they fled, being chased all over the state of Texas, winding up in Kentucky where they took a wood raft down the Mississippi River to the Hatchie River, near Covington, Tipton Co., Tenn., where they remained. My grandfather was Robert Lee Bryan, b. 12 Aug 1865, Covington, Tipton Co., Tenn., d. 19 Nov 1930, Covington, Tipton Co., Tenn., m. (1) abt 1889, Covington, Tipton Co., Tenn., Martha "Mattie" Lou Walton, b. 4 Oct 1865, Covington, Tipton Co., Tenn., d. 1 Jul 1906, Covington, Tipton Co., Tenn., m. (2) Covington, Tipton Co., Tenn., Margaret Bringle Hill. Can anyone out there help me find some names for my great grandfather and great grandmother from Texas? My mother mentioned the names Lelve Bryan and Amanda Cook, but that could be erroneous. Hope someone out there can help me scale this huge brick wall.
