Have you checked for an obituary? Most will list survivors - widow, children etc. I have even seen wife's maiden name given in some obits (not often). Daughters will be listed with married surnames, giving you something on which to work.

You might post a query on the Deaf Smith Co, TX GenWeb site, a family member, or even someone locally who knows the family, may see your query. Also, on GenForum site for that county, but GenWeb site has more hits.
