If I'm reading your query correctly, the letter was "from" Joshua, TX. I would go to the Johnson Co, TX GenWeb site, and post your query. You can also post it on the GenForum site, but the GenForum counties usually don't get as many hits as the GenWeb counties. You've probably already posted your query on the Nelson GenForum. Nice of you to try and find the family connected to the old photo, good luck.
