Jackie: THe story of being killed by Indians that late in east Texas is not likely. Also a number of the Fowlers in Smith county were married to Choctaws, Chickasaws and Cherokees and more likely to have been killed by whites than the other way around. In west Texas there is the possibility of being killed by Kiowas or Comanches, but not in Smith County.

Also, if they later moved to Love County, which is in the Chickasaw Nation, there is a possibility of a connection there. Most of the Fowlers that were if Indian blood had married into the Thompson lines.
