JAMES...This is a wild shot in the dark but from what little I know it appears my great grandfather was born in E Texas, so I am hitting on anyone who has an interest or knowledge of that area. He was Henry Owens and reportedly fought in the Civil War after which he emigrated to Missoui, setting between Lincoln and Cole Camp. He was the superintendent of a lead mine. As he was dyig he reportedly said he wanted to go back where he could hear the breezes blowing through the pine trees (E Texas ??). He also requested he be buried in a "winding sheet," but I doubt this relates to his place of origin. Family legend has it that he came from a family of lawyers and they expected him to go into that profession but he wanted to be a doctor. The ensuing family problems caused him to leave home. In all probability he was a horse thief running from the law.
If you have any suggestions as to how I may narrow my search or any information or contacts I would greatly appreciate hearing from you.
Thanks...Bob Owens
