Paula, I presume you are talking Texarkana, Texas as opposed to Arkansas and I also assume you don't live there or you probably would have already contacted the Clerk of Court.
Here is what I suggest. If she died in Bowie County, call or write the Clerk of Court and see if he/she will look in their records and verify the date of death of Olive's mother. Additionally you might ask if they have any records of the courts involvement in establishing guardianship or adoption of Olive. If you get any worthwhile information , they will generally copy as many of the record pages as necessary at $1.00 per page and a stamped, self addressed envelope. You can also check and see if Olive was born in Bowie County. If you have no success and feel the mother died in Texas and Olive was born in Texas, let me know and I will go to the death indexes in Austin.
