Boy, this Williams branch of my family tree is a tough one. I keep hitting dead ends. The info I have has been compiled from family diaries, Bibles & newspaper obituaries. Does any of this fit into your tree anywhere? I have tried twice to get my grandfathers death certificate from the TX BVS & they say they have no record of his death yet I have the original newspaper obituary.My grandfather was William Crenshaw Williams b. 4/14/1866 in Grayson Cty. TX.
He married Maude or Mattie Maude Hester on 10/10/1897. He died in Vernon, TX on 7/28/1931 or 1932. He was a singer sewing machine salesman & was supposedly running for Mayor or some other public office around the time of his death. His obiturary was pretty large & included his picture. He had 8 children:Frank b. 1898 & died as an infant;
Georgia b. 11/18/1899 married names Robinson & McLarty;
Viola b. 1/15/1901 married name Sweet;
Goldie b. 1/20/1903 married name Whitehead;
Freda b. 5/15/1906 married name Speights
Wilbur Clarence b. 10/15/1917 m. Pearl Strawn
Robert Carl b. 9/2/1919 m. Lois Ison;
Jefferson Biggs b. 7/17/1922 m.Lucille Lofton
The only ones still living of the above are Pearl & Lucille neither of which are in good health.
My great grandfathers name was Lin Williams, supposedly born in North Carolina. The newspaper obituary does not identify where he lived at the time of his death, but we think it was also TX. The article says he's buried in White Mound Cemetery. Where ever that is?!? It also mentions a place called Whitewright. His children were;
William Crenshaw Williams
Family legend has it that there was indian blood in the family which I do believe because both my Uncles Wilbur & Jeff looked indian. Any info from anyone will be greatly appreciated.
