As a genealogist you might want to get used to using all four digits for year date. Is that 1883, or 1983? See what I mean? That's one of the reasons genealogists didn't have much trouble with Y2K, we didn't use just 2 digits for our years.

Everton's Handybook for Genealogists does not give dates for earliest records in Harris Co, TX. But, go to the Harris Co, TX GenWeb site, check out what they have listed for researching. I'm sure they will have website for the big genealogy library there in Houston, and may have other suggestions for finding old records in the county.
