Mitchell - Ron Waters asked me to give you
some info. Look back at what Glenda Reed
Swaim wrote 7 Jan 2000....
or check with Cherokee Co TX historical Society
for an article entitled JOSEPH TURNEY FAMILY
written by Mrs. Hub (Billie Inge).

Joseph Turney was the father of your Mildred
Caroline Turney born 25 Dec 1855, died
18 Feb 1918, married 22 Aug 1872 to
Sidney Emmett Jowell.
The mother of Mildren Caroline was Joseph's
second wife - Nancy Melissa Templeton
who he married in 1853 and had 8 of his 16
children with.

A son from Joseph 1st marriage was James Addison
Turney who the town of Turney, TX in Cherokee Co
is named after.

Joseph came from AL around 1850 to TX.
His parents were:
Daniel Watson Turney born 01 Sept 1788 TN, died
21 Aug 1851 Morgan Co AL, and Mildred J.
the father of D.W. was Henry Turney born 1745-50
died Oct 1843 Dekalb Co TN - and his wife Elizabeth.
There is DAR info on Henry Turney as he
was at Fort Nashborough NC (Nashville TN) during
the Rev War and rec 640 acres of land for that.
Also Daniel Watson Turney was in War of 1812
and I have some info on that.

Hope that is some help to you.
