Matthew Sabin Neely son of Matthew and Hannah (Sabin)Neely, born 1811 in Montpelier, Caledonia Co., Vermont. One of eight children born to them. Matthew married Matilda Humphery daughter of Dr.William B.and Elizabeth (McGriff)Humphery of Kentucky, on 16 Oct. 1833 in Ohio Co., Ky. Marriage number 64. The bondsman was R.J. Reynolds. Matilda was born about 1815 in Ohio Co.,Ky. and passed away after 1847. Matthew and his children then went to Hopkins Co., Texas. Matthew and Matilda's children are listed on the 1855 Scholastic Census and there were five of them but they had seven. He married second Mary Elizabeth Ringo in Red River Co. Texas on 28 Oct. 1855. This is found on the IGI Index. Matthew was the fifth child of Matthew and Hannah Neely. His siblings were, Horace, Harriet, Greenlief S.,Eliza, Sophronia, Julia A. and Jane Ann Neely. Six of the children were born in Vermont, one in New York and the last one in Indiana where they settled.Matthew Neely, husband of Hannah passed away between 1822/23 in Indiana, and in 1830 she married James Hargrave. This Neely family and Hargrave families moved to Hopkins Co., Texas. Jane Ann Neely married Hazekiah Moore Hargrave and these families helped settle Sulphur Bluff in Hopkins Co., Texas. My Grandmother Olivia, Eva Neely was the daughter of Harrison Lafayette Neely. He was the son of Greenlief S. Neely.
