I am searching for information and relatives of John Harper who was the son of James Stirling Harper(d.1871)in Tenn.. John was the younger brother of James Thomas Harper(1840-1929), my great grandfather. John was born in 1856 in Benton County, Tenn. where his father was a blacksmith. John came to Arkansas in the 1870's, then on to Texas. He was still alive in 1937 when last heard from. John Harper was in the area of Houston, Texas. He would have probably stood around 6 feet, had a deep laugh, and possibly red hair. John may have had the family birthmark of a blaze between the eyes as we always called it. John Harper was probably outspoken on many issues having polished ways and manners.IF this sounds like your people, please write MissLata@aol.com, Linda Acrey, Lonoke, Arkansas. I am in central Arkansas. John may have spoken of a place called England, Arkansas as that is where most of the Arkansas bunch lived in recent times.
