I am told that there is a entry in the marriage book in Menard for a marriage between J.F.P. Kruse and Mrs. C. E. Smith. I have found the name J.F.P. Kruse mentioned in "The Free State of Menard" and he is living in Menard. I believe that the bride in the above marriage may be Cynthia E. Smith, the widow of Tull Smith. I can not find a Kruse family in the 1880 census. Does anyone know about this family.
