Capt. McCowen's Vol. Co., 1850 Medina Co

A man named Durham HALL is listed on page 401a of the 1850 Medina Co., TX US Census as a mamber of Capt. McCowen's Vol. Company. I suspect that this Durham HALL was the son of Robert Clark HALL of Sumter County, AL and that he came to Texas with many others, from Alabama at the time of the war with Mexico, some time between 1847/8. Does anyone know if there are any existing records for the unit of which he was a member, or where they may be housed? I suspect that this unit was either disbanded between 1850 & 1860, or that they were stationed elsewhere since I have found no record of Durham HALL after 1850. Can anyone point me in a direction where I may learn what happened to Durham HALL, or his unit.
