Hello Connie, I found the news article in the Dallas Morning News; you may already have that. If not, let me know and I will email it to you (it's a PDF). There's not a great deal of info in it; it's your standard dramatic Victorian write up, but you may get a clue or two. It does mention in the Judge issuing a verdict. There may have been some sort of finding that's on file with the McLennan Co. Clerk's office. The Texas law on death certificates was not enacted until 1903. It wasn't enforced for another 20 years, so it's doubtful there's a death certificate. I did check the Family Search Pilot Project, that has the odd death certificate before 1903, but didn't find one. You might also check for something in the Waco paper (Waco Tribune, I believe).
