I have just found my Great Grandfather's grave as well as some papers that have helped me with some dates and details. I would like any information regarding the German origins/family of Herman Rohde and his wife Helene (Ehlers?). There youngest son was Herman Gotthilf Rohde, my grandfather (married to Jewel B. Townsend Rohde), was born in texas Feb 4, 1888 and died August 17, 1976 (Brady, Texas). Herman Rohde was from the Oldenburg-Hamburg area of germany and came to Texas in 1887 to serve as a lutheran Pastor (educated in Hamburg?) around the Williamson county, Texas area. He Was born 20 June 1857 and died 18 April 1893, this is on his grave in Taylor City Cemetery, Taylor, Texas. I know that my Grandfather was in contact with our Rohde Germany Relatives before WW II and that contact after WW II was either minimal or non-existent. My grandfather had a brother named Louis George Rohde born july 15, 1876 (Germany) and died Oct. 20, 1956 (Brady, Texas). My grandfather also had two sisters as well. Since all my Genealogy work stops at Pastor Herman Rohde. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
