Let me tell you a Story
There once was a man named John Clark, reported to have been born in one of 2 places.
1870 census says he was born in Georgia 1823, 1880 census says he was born in Texas 1830.
Now this man is a real mystery, no parents or siblings to be found even with DNA, he is a tree
all his own.
In Bonham, Fannin Co Texas on December 15 1859,he is reported to have married a Jane Fowler, daughter of David an Elvira Fowler.
On the 1860 Fannin Co. Texas census Jane is still living with parents in HH 1216 going by the Fowler name.
On Feb 12 1861, the new family are blessed with the birth of a son,John C Clark, name as stated on 1870 census.Later to be found as James Christopher Columbus Clark.
Sometime in 1862 they are blessed again with a birth of a daughter,Louisa C, name as stated on 1870 census,Later to be referred to as Laura in a letter from her brother Robert E Lee Clark to brother JIM.
The daughter can be found on the 1870 San Saba County Texas census where she is found with father John and Stepmother Sarah Jane. Nothing more to be found.
On Feb 15 1864 the family is blessed with another son Robert E Lee Clark.
Sometime between this birth and 1870,John is remarried to Sarah Jane Tow Miller, widow of J Henry Miller.
To the union of John and Sarah are born 7 children as listed below.
1 Maggie b 1866
2 Nancy Ellen b 1869
3William Albert b 1872 Kimble Co.Texas Listed on 1880 census as William M.
4 Wilson Riley b 1874 changed name by 1910 to Wrighley Roy (same initials)
5 Frances M. b 1876 Nothing found on her
6 Samuel Tipson b 1879
7 Sarah Elizabeth b 1881
By December 1884 or 1885 the children are under the guardianship of Wilson and William Tow, brothers of Sarah Jane , as John and Sarah are deceased.
Have copies of these papers.
Now all I ask is Where oh Where did John come from.
