Hand writing not too clear on that 1900 census, but listed are sisters with last name of Dyer or Dyes. So, I think I found Tom and his families, yes families, looks like his mother Susan married more than once.

1880 census Leon Co, TX:

Dyes, Geo W., h, 58, b VA, VA, VA
" Susan M., 37, wf, b MO, MO, MO
Clark, Mattie E., 16, step/dau, b TX [she's on 1900 census]
" Tomas[sic] B[sic], 16, step/son, b TX
Dyes, Evy, 5, dau, b TX
" Ivy, 5, dau, b TX [marked twins]
" Mary L., 1, dau, b TX

1870 census Leon Co, TX:

McDaniel, T.J., 46, b KY - land 1250/personal 800
" Susan, 26, b TX
Clark, Mattie, 9, b TX
" Thomas, 6, b TX
" Mary, 4,m b TX

1860 census Leon Co, TX

Clark, T.D., 30, b AL -- land 1050/personal 2700
Susan M., 17, b MO

On Find a Grave someone has middle name for Tom D. as Darling, maybe a surname back up the family tree?

On 1900 census, not too clear, but looks like Tom and Beckie have a son named John Tolbert Clark. Maybe that's
another name to watch for, too.

Happy Hunting (^_^)
