I could not find anything on John Kellum or Leona Adeline Newton in either Madison County history book. I did find a John Kellum, 59, b. Scotland, on the 1900 Brazos County census, page 217. Brazos County adjoins Madison County on the west.
Dwelling #194, Family #198:
Kellum, John, Head, W, M, Feb. 1841, 59, M, 33, Scotland
May, Wife, W, F, Apr. 1844, 56, M, 33, 11/7, Scotland
Alex, Son, W, M, Jan. 1875, 25, S, Texas
Lizzie, Daughter, W, F, May 1884, 16, S, Texas
Annie, Daughter, W, F, Jan. 1886, 14, S, Texas
Albert, Son, W, M, May 1888, 12, S, Texas

There are two John Kellums on the 1910 Texas census, but neither one could be this man.
