Misty,

Andy Pinkston Baker (My great-great Grandfather) and Dr. J.A. Baker (great-great-great Grandfather) were, according to family, among the first in what is now Madison County. I believe that J.A. Baker was from Walker County (as Madison County did not exist until 1853) and his father served with Sam Houston at the battle of San Jacinto. Dr. Baker's medical equipment is on display at the Sam Houston Museum in Huntsville. I will post more info. as it becomes available.
