I am trying to find out information on my grandfather, John Ishmill Mitchell. He was born in September 1861 (or posssibly 1860) in Texas and died in 1940.

He married Mary Ellen Reese (also spelled Rease) on December 12, 1884 in Llano County, Texas. Mary Ellen (b. August 1867) died after childbirth in 1903 in Hood County, Texas. In the 1920 census, he is listed as John J. Mitchell (the "I" was transcribed as "J").

He had six children that lived after birth:

Adaline, b. February 1886, d. March 1970
Attie May, b. May 27, 1890, d. December 22, 1966
Ida Elvira, b. May 27, 1890, d. 1980
John W., b. February 1893
Georgia, b. 1898, d. ???
Mendozia, b. February 13, 1997

I've stumbled onto information for his wife, but not much on him. He lived in Hood County, Texas from before 1900 to at least 1903 and possibly to 1910/1920. In the time between 1910 and 1920, he married Orphia Angeline Byler. Orphia had previously married a Null and an Austin. After the marriage to Orphia, he moved to Dallas, Texas (I found him there in the 1920 census). It is possible that he had another wife between Mary Ellen and Orphia.

His known occupation was that of farmer and dairyman. He delivered milk in the 1895 timeframe and in the 1920s.

Prior to Hood County, he may have lived in the Brownwood, Texas area.

The 1900 census for Hood County lists him as James J. Mitchell. His father was born in Kentucky and his mother was born in Missouri. I would like to find out more information, birth (where), parents, and death (where).
