Thank you for your reply. It is quite possible that you are correct as I have no real records on wife #2 just what I found in marriage records in Corpus Christi. JT James to Catharine Jane Malloy,June 1855. Assumed this was correct. I was guessing about the children because of the census of 1860.

What relation is JT James to your grandparents or family? Would love to have any information that you have as I have been on a quest for four years trying to find his parents. I thought maybe I could find something through his second wife's family. Your information about the orphaned children would explain why I can't find anything on them with the James surname.
