This might help some. I ordered the copy of the microfilm of property taxes paid in Limestone County TX during this period of time. I ordered it thru my local library, on loan, I think from the Regional library at Baylor University. My local historical library has a book of films that can be ordered, and the address of where they are located. It has been several years, and I don't have the address on hand.
I was able to copy the pages I needed from the microfilm. It gave me the dates of when property was purchased, and when my great great grandfather was taxed for the land that formerly had been his Mothers. It also told me when he no longer owned the land, and what all else was taxable that he owned.
There is also a list of Indigent Families that received funds during the War Between the States that can be found on the Texas Library website.
Good Luck,
Betty
