Daniel Paul SEAY (1829-1879) and Malinda Susan REICH (1834-1919) of Itawamba Co., MS and Limestone Co., TX
I am working on a huge ROTHROCK family tree. The REICH family is descended from the ROTHROCKs. Benjamin REICH (b. 1801 at Friedberg, present day Forsyth County, North Carolina and d. 1863 at Gum, Itawamba Co., Mississippi) married Rebecca SCHNEIDER (b. 1803 at Friedland, present day Forsyth County, North Carolina and died after 1880 at Itawamba Co., MS?) on 23 Nov 1825 at Stokes County, North Carolina. Their third child was:
Malinda Susan REICH, who was born 04 Apr 1834 at Salem, Stokes County (present day Winston-Salem, Forsyth County), North Carolina. She died 25 Oct 1919 (at Jewett, Leon County, Texas? or Farrar, Limestone County, Texas?). Malinda married Daniel Paul SEAY, who was born 20 Apr 1829 (some say 1832) in Tennessee and died 09 Feb 1879 (at Limestone County, Texas?) on 29 Apr 1852 at Itawamba County, Mississippi. Malinda was the mother of 11 children (of whom I have identified eight), of whom five were living at the times of the 1900 and 1910 censuses.
I have heard that Daniel was a Cherokee (or part Cherokee) Indian. He is said to be the son of Michael M. SEAY (1875 to 1845) and Clarissa CLARK (1788 - ???).
In 1860 Malinda, Daniel and their first two children (Benjamin W., born c1855 in Mississippi and John J. (b. c1857 in Mississippi)) were living at Granby Township, Newton County, Missouri with Daniel listed as a blacksmith. Daniel's widowed mother Clarissa (age 72, listed as born North Carolina) was living with them.
In 1870 the parents, son Michael (age 9, born MO), son Daniel (age 5, born TX) and son Albert (age 2, born TX) were living at District No. 48, Entaw Post Office, Page 181, Limestone County,
Texas with the father Daniel listed as a carpenter.
In 1880 the widow Malinda, son Mark M., son D. Sidney, son Albert, daughter Catherine, son William and daughter Zenoba were living at District 96, Limestone County, Page 406B, Texas. In 1900 and 1910 the widow Malinda was living at Limestone County, Texas with unmarried sons Daniel and Willie.
The child Mark Michael SEAY (b. Jul 1861?) married Artie and was living at Limestone County, Texas in 1900 with seven children. The daughter Katherine (Katie) married George W. ROWAN and was living at Limestone County, Texas in 1900 with five children.
