I am seeking information on Sarah Anderson Rigsdell Pierce. Sarah is my second great-grandmother through her marriage to Hiram Rigsdell, Sr. Sarah was born in July 1834 probably in Mississippi and died after April 28, 1910, in Freestone County, Texas. She is enumerated in the Census with her son, F. M. Rigsdell.
Sarah's parents are not adequately documented at this writing, but she was married to Hiram Rigsdell (Ragsdale) on March 1, 1855, in Rankin County, MS. Records indicate that five children were born to this marriage. Francis Marion was the only child to survive to adulthood. Two other children are identified as Nancy M. and Hiram, Jr. The other two children are not identified in the Census and their names do not appear in the family Bible.
After Hiram, Sr's death, Sarah married James Mitchell Pierce on October 26, 1876, in Copiah County, MS. It is thought that Pierce died in 1881 and he is buried in the Appleton-Pierce Cemetery in Lincoln County, MS.
After Pierce's death, Sarah and her son moved to Texas. She lived with her son and his family in Freestone, Linestone, Houston, and Anderson Counties. We believe that Sarah died in Freestone County, Texas, in 1910. She is buried in the Dew Cemetery, but her grave is NOT at the grave marker site. She is buried in an unmarked grave at the back of Dew Cemetery. The grave marker that is found beside her son was placed by my grandfather and his sister. If anyone has information concerning Sarah's date of death, or any other information related to her family, please reply.
