Hi, I know that the 1850s the Albrose family were slaves of my ancestor David Calhoun Palmer. They left SC and came to Texas to Liberty County. They are shown in the 1850 census in Marion SC
1850 Slave Schedule
35 Male Black D C Palmer Marion, South Carolina
20 Female Black D C Palmer Marion, South Carolina
9 Female Black D C Palmer Marion, South Carolina
2 Male Black D C Palmer Marion, South Carolina
Then by 1860, according the the Slave Schedule, DC Palmer is shown with only 1 slave a 15 year old young man.
15 Male Black D C Palmer Liberty, Liberty, Texas
I believe this young man to be named Ben Albrose and he lived to be over 100 years old. The story goes that when DC Palmer died, he left a cherry bed they had brought from SC to Texas to the Albrose family because they had been loyal slaves and cared for his children who's mother had died while he was away at the civil war. The bed was given to the Albrose and later repurchased by the Palmer family.
I don't know this line of my family, because my grandparents were divorced and my Mother did not have contact with her father on the Palmer line. I have a photo of Ben Albrose I wanted to share with the Albrose family. I was told they lived on the eastern side of the Trinity river. I looked for them in the 1870 census and find no Albrose. I have not been able to find any albrose in 1870-1880 census.
