My earliest LEEPER is Samuel, who is listed on the 1850 Chambers Co., Texas census as being 58 years old, a farmer, born in Kentucky. A Thomas MEADOW, age 14, lives with him. http://www.rootsweb.com/~txchambe/1850census.htm Samuel LEEPER later married Hannah WISER, b. ABT. 1824, who had recently immigrated from Germany with her four sons. I believe they married around 1855. She shows up on the 1860 Chambers County census with the surname LEEPER--but it indicates she is widowed. Yet I am told Hannah bore Samuel four children: Samuel, b. 25 DEC 1855(or 1856); Rosa, b. 1861 and her twin Lisa; and Hannah. b. 1862. (This AFTER the supposed "widow" appeared on the 1860 census) I know nothing more about these four children. Samuel LEEPER apparently owned land in Liberty and Chambers Counties, Texas and fought in the Battle of Bexar, San Antonio in 1835. Would be interested in learning more about Samuel and his family.
