I don't know if the Kiowas were in that area, but there were alot of indians of some kind. My dad sold his land in Leon County to the coal company and before the mining started the State carried off 7 truck loads of Indian artifacts. The Leon County Genealogical Society, located in one of the Courthouse buildings in Centerville has all kinds of local history pamphlets and books including the big History of Leon County book that includes stories about the families that settled there.
