Bookmark this -- http://www.labs.familysearch.org/ -- Click on Record Search, then click on location, such as the North American Continent. You'll see a list of projects wholly or partially finished, with more to come. Death records for several states are presently listed, and some day AR will be there. LOL As for mistake in location on the death certificate, they are only as accurate as the knowledge of the informant. I've seen TX DCs with locations within TX misspelled. LOL There's also the old TX Dth Idx 1964-1998 -- http://vitals.rootsweb.ancestry.com/tx/death/search.cgi -- but it just that, an index, no digitized original records. It is a good way to located county of death, as SSDI actually only gives last residence. If someone was traveling, or visiting someone in neighboring county when they died, that is where the death is recorded. It sometimes throws a monkey wretch in the works. You may know where someone is buried and be looking for death certificate in that county and wonder why none shows up. Also, the familysearch site is more user friendly as it will sometimes call up names with "close" spelling. The other old site requires exact spellings. Have fun (^_^) Notify Administrator about this message?
