Hello there,
Even though this name...William HARDEMAN Cash was given by family in the 1970's, it appears to be incorrect. His name on his death certificate is given as William HARDIN Cash, as attested to by his eldest son John on the certificate in 1943. Also, on my grandfather Cash's SSN Application from 1937, his father's name is also given as William HARDIN Cash. He was called "Hard" by his family and since Hardeman Co. is nearby to Knox this may be the reason for the mixup. None of the numerous relatives that I have talked to from the family can state for sure which it was, so I am going off of the legal documents I posses. Where this family came from, in Meigs Co. TN, the Hardin family is prominent and in close proximity to the Cash's ca. 1823+. So, going with what I know here. It contradicts what is given in "Between the Wichita's" and also "History of Knox Co.", but again that info came from a family member ca. 1970's who I have been in regular contact with. If I can answer any questions, let me know. Thanks for the reply. Sincerely, Christopher Cash
