You didn't mention the name was spelled Boon on the 1900 census, took me a bit to find the family. Did you notice one page away, Matison Boon? I'd say he was a brother to your Daniel. Living with him, his wife and children is his father Daniel T. Boon.

Go to Rootsweb's Worldconnect -- http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi -- I typed in Boone, Daniel, born Tennessee, 1827 + or - five years, clicked on search and there are several working on him and his family. And, yes your Daniel and Matison are brothers. Now, be careful, on sites like this people often copy from each other, warts and all, so look for sources, contact some of the submitters, ask for sources/proof etc.
