I need help! I can't find any record of my mother's birth or her parents' marriage, and I live two states away in Arizona. If somebody is going to the court house, could you please look for a birth record on Evelyn Christine Downey, b. May 5, 1917 in Kingsville? The State Archives claim they have no record. They just took my money and apologized! I have heard others say that the counties have better records. I don't even know if Grace married Jack in Kleberg county, I am just hoping that she did.
Evelyn's parents were Grace Margaret Carter and Jack Downey (Jack may be a nickname). Grace was b. in Foard County, TX in 1899. I know nothing about Jack except that in the 1920 census for Mesa, AZ, Grace listed herself as a widow. I believe Grace and Evelyn left Texas for Arizona about 1918-1919.
