I am trying to confirm a family story about my great grandmother, Mary Ann Bradshaw. My grandfather wrote in a letter, that both Mary's parents, King David Bradshaw and Lena (Wilson) Bradshaw of Lovelady, Tx. died of pneumonia within a couple of weeks of each other in 1877. His letter stated that Mary who was only eight years old at the time of her parent's death was sent to live with a "Judge Cooper", in Crockett. Another letter telling the same story says it was a "Judge Crockett" in Crockett. At any rate, by the time Mary was in her teens she went to live with her sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Charles L. Bishop of the town of Kaufman. After researching, I've found that Charles was a gunsmith in Kaufman and I have found them on the census there. Mary eventually married my great grandfather, Joseph Mitchell and they lived in Mabank. I would like to know who this judge was in Crocket ca. 1877 and would like to know more about Mary, Nancy, and Charles of Kaufman and the Bradshaw family of Lovelady, Tx. Any help would be appreciated.
