My husbands grandfathers last name is McCanless. The other surnames that I am researching are as follows: Howard, Dollar, Graham, Walker, Thomas and Dawson. Napolean Bonapart McCanless married Sarah (Thomas) McCanless on 11th of August, 1874 in Kaufman County, Kaufman Texas. I have a copy of the entry in the marriage book at the court house. Sarah also went under the name of Elizabeth and Bettie. In fact, Bettie, is the name on her tombstone marker in the Caney Cemetary in Caney Oklahoma. If any one out there that sees this posting and know any one with these last names please contact me at bgmama216@aol.com I am very interested in finding any one out there that may have information on a Napolean Bonapart McCanless or Sarah Thomas McCanless. We have no info. on his wife or her family. I know that Napolean B. McCanless and Sarah along with my husbands grandfather, John McCanless, showed up on the 1910 census for Caney Ok., Atoka County, Ok. Out of that marriage there were several children, of which several died. We know of 3 sons, Jim, Will and John and possible a daughter, Rosie was her name. John McCanless, b. July 17th, 1886 in Kaufman Texas. Will is buried in Ft Worth Texas but have no information on Jim other than he married a L. Florence, last name unknown. She was born 3-2-1885, d. 12-18-1936. They had a son, Valey McCanless on 8-4-1904, d. 5-12-1918. Both Florence and Valey are buried at Restland Cemetary at Boswell, Oklahoma. I have pics of their markers. We also believe that Jim resided in Seminole for a number of years. I am in the understanding there are McCanless's in the Enid area as well as the town of Seminole, Ok. I have pics of McCanless and one of Napolean B. McCanless if interested. Please get in contact me if you have any information that may help me in my research. Thank you so much.
