I recently posted a reply about Kaufman Co.Tx. I was certainly WRONG in believing the public service meant "service". I am sorry I doubted you people. The Kaufman Co.Tx. clerks' offices want $10.00 per name search to "look" in their records for your name request. Then, they will allow you to purchase a copy. I was so silly to think that they were already getting paid for that service. They were the ONLY county to request money for a search. Everyone other county responded and added a hand written note wishing me luck. I don't even know where this county is, but is it in an impovishred area? Do they need money very much? Or, are they just greedy? And, did you ever follow up with your inquiry into their methods? Won't do you any good, but might make you feel better.
