COTTON - DOLLAR - ALLEN - MASSEY

I have a bit of a problem, and I'm hoping to find someone who can help. My grandmother, Dorothy Mudgett, worked on our family tree most of her adult life, until her death in 1986. One of the questions she could not answer was the identity of my great-great-great grandmother.

Dorothy's husband was Ray Mudgett. His mother's name was Viola Franklin. Her parents were James and Margaret Franklin.

A letter from John H. Ritchie, Ray's cousin, to my grandmother stated the following:

"James Marion Franklin and Margaret Elizabeth <Dollar> Franklin lived at Poetry, Texas. GrandMother Franklin's Mother's maiden name was Cotten before she married Dollar. 2 daughters, names Margaret Elizabeth Dollar and Hannah Dollar. She had lived in Mississippi or Alabama, moved to Texas after the 2 daughters were born. He died and she married an Allen, they had 3 children: William Allen, Vicey Allen, Hannah Caroline Allen.
The husband named Allen died and she married a Massey."

I'm not certain what Mrs. Dollar's first name was, but my grandmother had it in her notes that it was Margaret. Her maiden name may have also been spelled Cotton. As far as I know, she remained in Kaufman County. The Franklins and the Mudgetts moved to Oklahoma, before returning to Texas.

Doe any of this sound familiar to anyone?
