I am researching Flemings in Jones County, Texas, and am hoping someone will recognize my family names.
My line is from John Fleming in Georgia; at least two of his children ended up in Texas that I know of (Samuel and Thirza). I am descended from Thirza, who married Jesse Gregory. Jesse’s son Jesse married a woman named Mary Jane in Burleson County 1871 – some of their children’s death certificates list her maiden name as Fleming also. Mary Jane (nicknamed Mollie) was born October 1855 in Georgia, and at the time of her death she owned some property in Stamford that probably came from a relative, since she and Jesse were living in Stonewall Co, near Aspermont. I have no idea of her parents names or if they really were Flemings.
