Shelton Hooper and Homer Hutto in their book, The First 100 Years of Jones County published in Stamford, Texas in 1978 states that the town of Hodges, in Jones county was settled by Alexander Stephens Hodges, a native of Georiga and rancher W.L. Harris in 1885.
