William H Garrett murder and trial of Stephensons, 1899

Wondering if anyone in Anson area has knowledge of this murder and trial (John W. and Melvin Stephenson tried in Anson). No idea of trial outcome. John W. Stephenson was William H Garrett's son-in-law, with ongoing feud. Injured with an ax and died about a day later. William and wife buried Spring Creek Cemetery. What happened to folks convicted of murder in Jones County in 1899? Anyone have access to newspaper accounts of this?

Thanks, Marty : email to rich1267@comcast.net or reply to genforum.
