There was in fact a Baptist church in Jones County, as early as 1879, possibly. (I am working from memory here, so don't quote me.) The First Baptist Church in Anson has a transcript of an oral history (narrated by one of the many Carrs who resided in the county from 1879 on). They photocopied it for me a few years ago, but all my papers are in a briefcase in Mexico. (I'm going after them in early May, so I'll be able to provide you with some better particulars at a later date.) Included with the history is a transcription of some of the church meeting minutes. I don't recall any names (other than those of the Carrs from whom I am descended) but there may be some mention of your people. Keep an eye on things and I'll get back to you when I have more, or feel free to ask questions.
