You say James Monroe Robertson was "recorded" in IN or VA, waht kind of records? Were they tax or land records? Daviess Co, IN wasn't formed until 1817, so you may have to look in Knox Co (parent county of Daviess) for land records of any Robertson that might be his father.
James Monroe was married in 1835 and Joseph was born 1855, there must have been other children in that family.
Have you looked at the IN, and Daviess Co, IN forums? Or, the Robertson forum? I just did a quick look, used the Search this Forum box and on the Robertson forum I entered Daviess Indiana (leave out word county and no commas). Forum # 4259 has someone offering to do lookups on book he has. Post is dated 2001, but his message history shows he is still currently posting queries on other forums.
I would be gleaning everything I could find on Daviess Co, IN, see what surfaces for Robertson. Be sure to post queries on all forums and messages boards pertaining to your names and locations (both state and county, and surnames)
