The Hardin, Hawkins, Bills, and Adams families migrated from the Dyer/Crockett County, TN area to Johnson Co., TX between 1873 and 1877. There was a Martin Hardin b.1823 in Marshall Co., TN, son of John Lawrence Hardin and Rebecca Cabell. His wife was Nancy, but I do not know her maiden name.

It seems possible that this is the same Martin and Nancy Hardin in the Johnson Co. 1880 census. The names of the children are all common in the family. William and George W. could be named after Martin's brothers. Burgess could be named after his grandmother Mary Burgess.

According to familysearch.org, a Martin Hardin married a Nancy Toumbs 10/22/1845 in Maury Co., TN. Since Maury Co. is next to Marshall Co., it is possible that this is the same Martin and Nancy above.

Do you have any more information that could help us make a more definitive connection?
