pre-1860 death / HENSLEE

What suggestion would you give me for locating info on someone in Johnson Co who died prior to the census of 1860? We believe Enoch Henslee (sometimes spelled Hensley) to have been in Johnson Co with his son Maxfield shortly before this time but in the census only find Maxfield and children; his wife had also died 1860 and was prior to his re-marriage. Thank you, Sandra
