My family knew Reed B. Nunley in Alice, TX who was an independent insurance agent. "Shotgun" Nunley was related to him, brother or cousin? Shotgun had a little convenience store one or two blocks north of the nursing home (Hospitality House) on Third St. The SSDI lists a Homer C. Nunley, born 27 Jan 1917 who died 18 Nov 1996 (last residence, Alice, Jim Wells Co., TX). The Texas Deaths Index at rootsweb.com gives his name as Homer Craig Nunley, died 11-18-1996 in Gregg Co., TX. A Mildred Loretta Nunley died 6 Feb 1994 in Jim Wells Co., TX; the SSDI lists her birthdate as 15 Jul 1915. Reed B. Nunley was born 14 Sep 1915 and died 5 Dec 1996 in Jim Wells Co., TX. His wife was named Weltha Gray. Weltha was born 14 Jun 1915 (see rootsweb.com) and she died 13 Feb 1995 in Jim Wells Co., TX. Mrs. Nunley (Weltha) was a beautiful, soft spoken woman with grey eyes. She and Reed never had children. Reed was very nice to my family including maternal grandparents and he used to come by often to chat with my grandfather in Spanish. He'd always bring my grandmother a bottle of "Mogen David" wine at Xmas time. Marva, are you the Marva Boehm who graduated in 1970 from Wm. Adams High School? Remember the banner that you made for the annual Chamber of Commerce banquet our senior year? We had a math class together (don't remember if it was sophomore year or what), but I remember that was the year that you got contacts. Am I remembering you correctly? --Irma Salinas
