Death cert. for Benj. Franklin Cox, 1910, Beaumont

Maybe someone could advise me about how to find a death certificate that may have been misplaced. My grandfather, Benjamin Franklin (Frank) Cox, died Feb. 10, 1910, in Beaumont after being in an accident at work two weeks before. He was apparently in a coma and put into a sanitarium where he died two weeks later. I did write to the state several years back, but they could find no record. They shipped his body to Jennings, LA, where he was buried. He grew up in Baton Rouge and later worked in Jennings as a stationay engineer. He was a young man in his 30's when he died. In the obituary, it says he was born in VT, but our family had no ties with VT, and I wanted to see what a death certificate might say. On census records, he states he waas born in LA. I'd appreciate anyone's help with this. Thanks!
